CONTEXT

For people living with HIV/AIDS, access to treatment is definitively a major point, but it is not sufficient enough to help them in their daily life challenges. Indeed, social and psychological issues such as stigmatization /discrimination, violation rights, exclusion from social network, low income, inadequate hygiene, food insecurity and nutrition behavior, etc., are significant and can be relieved by access to more information. Moreover, it appears that HIV/AIDS patients want more information to learn about their disease, to share experience with others and to have the feeling to be integral part of the society.

Therefore SEAD took the initiative to publish and to distribute the first free nationwide magazine (named “Rubrumknea” = “Together”) for people living with HIV/AIDS and most at risk people, their relatives and communities.

THE MAGAZINE

“Rubrumknea” has been designed to offer to People Living with HIV/AIDS the possibility to have their own magazine dealing with their health and their life problems, providing them answers to their questions, giving them an opportunity to share experience with others and to improve their knowledge, awareness and self-support.

Consequently, “Rubrumknea” is the communication and educational tool, which drive adults as well as youth people in getting information and advice on how to take care of their everyday life and health while living with HIV/Aids.

Moreover, for the professionals working on HIV/AIDS sector (Government, Organizations, Agencies) this publication can be the common denominator that everyone can use in the fight against HIV in Cambodia!

Note:
The project has already been initiated in June 2007. From that date, the project has been able to set up an editing team and already produce and distribute 7 issues of the magazine. Moreover, an important network bringing together the major Organizations and Agencies working on HIV/AIDS and MARP sector in Cambodia has been recognized and support the project.
