BEFORE (history of SEAD)
Médecins du Monde (MDM), a French NGO, has been involved in HIV/Aids care in Cambodia since 1995. MDM initiated ARV provision since late 1999.
MDM has set up specialized Out Patient Department, In Patient Department and a social support network in order to deliver comprehensive care to PLHA, firstly in Calmette hospital, then in Preah Kossamak hospital (Phnom Penh), where 1500 m² of premises have been built thanks to Japanese Embassy and Global Fund financial support.

In 2006, anticipating a phase out process, MDM supported the creation of a local NGO (SEAD) to localize its projects, in partnership with the Royal government, providing to SEAD an experienced staff.
Expatriates that were working with MDM are now working with SEAD.
A video showing this hand-over process can be viewed on MDM France web site and in our VIDEO page.
